Born and raised in the river town of Red Wing Minnesota, Sam Brown has been writing instrumental guitar music since 2000.  Although styles have changed, his focus has always been instrumental and guitar in nature.  His career as a musician began in 2001 with the performance of his original "The Life and Death of a Bumblebee" at Red Wing High School's talent show.  It was through the amazing response from the crowd that Bo kept with his music.  He was one of the founders of "Loud n Local" Red Wing's annual rock concert put on by the RWHS Student Council.  He made appearances through that outlet in '02 and '03.  He graduated from RWHS in '03 and attended Willamette University in Salem, OR.  He was able to pursue his music by playing in coffee shops and at Willamette's annual Earth Art and Music festival called Wulapalooza in the spring of '04 and '05.  He has continually recieved reinforcement from fans.  This brings us to the present.  "Take a Step Back..." is his debut album.  It was recorded on October 1st, 2005 at Free Will Studios in central Minnesota under the production of Jonathan Moehnke.  The album ended up having five original compostitions running roughly 26 minutes of playtime.  It was all recorded in one take, with one layer of recording.  "Thank you very much for taking interest in the music, it really means alot to me" -Bo.Monro

Origin of the Name: I am often asked on the origin of the name Bo.Monro and i will spin the tale of how it came about for you here.  Ok, so my name is Sam Brown and you may wonder where the heck the Bo.Monro came from.  Well I am known to many as sambo or just plainly bo.  That is where the "Bo" comes from.  Monro is a significant name in my family history.  My great grandfather's name was Monro Brown and he was a farmer.  My father Charles Monro Brown is now the third generation farmer.  Monro is not my middle name, but it is my brother Ned's.  He was working on a website for his architectural work and went with the url www.edwardmonro.com (that's his name) and so I would say that Bo.Monro came directly from ned's website endeavors, but it really is a personally significant name to me.  so there you have it, the mysticism behind the name is no more!  -bo
